My series of Holding Stones are a series of small, person-shaped ceramic pieces intended to be experienced by an individual holding it in their hands. This work relies on the trust of the individual to take the time to be solely with the piece; bringing forth questions of intimacy, care, and protection. The creation of each stone is a meditation on caretaking, crafted using hand building methods so that the shape of my hands can be felt by the individual. Through form and feel, it elicits the feeling of being held, and to hold, at once.
