About the event
The Megafawn Collective (Puppeteer Kalan Sherrard, Composer Ron Shalom, and special guests) is beginning its interrogation of the ecological crisis in ancient literature with the Epic of Gilgamesh, the lost story that inspired the Bible and Homer. After developing the work for two years and performing glosses, extracts and para-texts along the G train in May, they will mount their first theatrical in-progress viewing at Future Space NYC in early June. This experimental eco-psychological swathe focuses on the first five tablets of the Epic, in which the beautiful-tyrant king of Uruk sends a sex-priestess to seduce a hairy wild man Enkidu, the two men become lovers, and set out together to destroy Humbaba, guardian of the cedar forest.
